HIDDEN SECRETS OF SUCCESS ⁣⁣⠀
🤫🤫🤫⁣⁣⠀
⁣⁣⠀
Oh, there must be something that dancer did to get invited to that event! 😈 Oh, I wish I knew that trick to make more students come to my classes.👿She must be a friend of event organizers, that’s why they invited her.👿⁣⁣⠀
⁣⁣⠀
It’s much easier to explain someone’s success with a hidden secret, rather than acknowledge their work and achievements. 💁‍♀️But you know, the more I talked to various guests on the podcast, the more I realized that those ‘secret strategies’ are actually very obvious, but often are just ignored.⁣⁣⠀
⁣⁣⠀
SO here they are, those ’secrets’ of succesfull careers👇👇👇⁣⁣⠀
⁣⁣⠀
❤️Aim to become an expert: You can't be a master of absolutely everything related to dance, but you can be known and recognized as an expert in a very specific niche.⁣⁣⠀
⁣⁣⠀
❤️Create a network: Just being a respectful and kind human will already do the trick, but creating a network of people will serve as your support, inspiration and push you forward. ⁣⁣⠀
⁣⁣⠀
❤️If you do something, do it with 100%: Your work is your best business card and promotional tool. ⁣⁣⠀
⁣⁣⠀
❤️Know the ultimate goal of what you are offering: You are not selling a 20-min of your 新澳门网址多少 dance show, or 10 workshops at your festival. You are selling the experience, the emotions and the transformation people get from interacting with your offer. ⁣⁣⠀
⁣⁣⠀
❤️Go out of your comfort zone: Never stop expanding and improving, and at some point you will reach the dream point, or figure out how to do something. ⁣⁣⠀
⁣⁣⠀
❤️Think about your ideal scenario: What other surrounding conditions are important for you. How can you increase things that fulfill and charge you, and how can you decrease things that drain your energy, and make you feel out of balance. ⁣⁣⠀
⁣⁣⠀
❤️Keep going: The difference between successful dancers and other dancers is simply that other dancers gave up too early!⁣⁣⠀
⁣⁣⠀
Wishing everyone success and fulfillment in their careers and artistic endeavors! 💃💃💃Don’t forget to ❤️❤️❤️ this post if you enjoyed it. 😉😘🤗
AM I READY TO START?⠀
⠀
This question is one of the most common among dancers who want to start performing solo at the local gigs...⠀
And here are a couple of warnings signals indicating that you are definitely rushing:⠀
⠀
‼️You just started your 新澳门网址多少 dance training. 👉I don’t want to give any specific number of years required to reach a professional level, but if you are in your early years of training, I strongly encourage you to be objective with your dance level. As a future professional performer you have responsibilities for the audience and dance community that you are a part of. ☝️Take it seriously and, also remember that the more skilled dancer you are, the easier it will be for you to promote your services and reach the success. ⠀
⠀
‼️You’ve never done any solo performances, you’ve never experienced staying alone if front of the audience (and not just your relatives at a family party), feeling their eyes on you, and expectations that you need to hold their attention and energy. 👀👀👀⠀
⠀
‼️You never saw a professional 新澳门网址多少 dance show: not a gala show at your dance school or festival, but the actual show in the same or similar environments that you are willing to work at (restaurant, wedding, etc). 💃You need to realize that it’s very different than one song on stage, as well as experience it as an audience member.⠀
⠀
‼️You don’t own even a single professional 新澳门网址多少 dance costume, AND not ready to invest in it.👗⠀
⠀
If you recognized yourself in at least one of the above points, don’t get upset right away. 👉All you need to do, is to fulfill the gap: push harder on your training, apply for a student showcase (and the more solo shows you do, the better!!!!), go attend a 新澳门网址多少 dance show in the local restaurant, and invest in your costume (at least, one, but better several). 🤗🤗🤗⠀
⠀
‼️‼️‼️⠀
I’m not saying that fulfilling all those things definitely means that you are ready to claim yourself as a professional dancer, and charge money for your shows. Those are just important warning signals for you. 🤔But if you meet those basic requirements, then at least you are ready to START building up your professional gigs career, one step at a time. 😉😘😘😘

Give some love to the podcast by posting ❤️ in comments below.
Love is all we need. But love should start with love to yourself, our body, health and soul. Never forget it.⠀
⠀
👉Love means care. Taking care about our body includes taking care of what we put inside it, and not only healthy foods to fuel and restore our energy, but also some satisfying treats too. 😉❤️❤️❤️⠀
⠀
Try to guess: which of these products is my favourite treat 😁😁😁😅⠀
❇️Fresh dates⠀
❇️Coconut water⠀
❇️Avocado⠀
❇️Mozarella cheese⠀
⠀
🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔 And yours? 😁⠀
⠀
(P.S. I’ll share the answer in my stories later today.)
There is some sort of shame around putting these two words together: dance & money (or art & sales). 😬😬😬 And I strongly believe that this is one of the main blocks for many talented dancers on why their career is not as successful as they wish it to be. 💁‍♀️⠀
⠀
There is a misconception as if treating your art as a business will destroy the nature and essence of the art itself, as if suddenly you will stop being an artist. 👉‘The true artist should be starving’ - have you heard that? 🤣🤣🤣But did you ever actually question this statement?🤔⠀
⠀
I honestly think that such belief is a very comforting excuse for many artists on not taking responsibility for ALL aspects of their work. It feels much safer to stay in the comfort zone of a dance studio, focusing only on the training element of your profession, and ignoring everything else. 💃💃💃⠀
⠀
But you don’t have to choose between art and business. 👉There IS a way on how to stay true to yourself and your art, AND make a decent living as a professional dancer. ‼️‼️‼️SO even if you ever decide to stop reading my blog for whatever reason (🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️😅), one thing that I definitely want you to take away with you👇👇👇⠀
⠀
❇️There is no shame in wanting to live out of your art.⠀
❇️There is no shame in actively promoting your services.⠀
❇️There is no shame in asking for a good level of payment for your skills.⠀
❇️And there is no shame in approaching your art as a business.⠀
⠀
In fact accepting all those things means that you DO care about your art, it’s respectability, high-level appreciation, and sharing its joy with the general audience. 👉You can think about selling your art as an opportunity to popularize it among people who otherwise may have not even know about its true nature. 🤔🤔🤔💁‍♀️It’s one of the most satisfying things to hear after your show: ‘Oh, I’ve never thought that a 新澳门网址多少 dance show could look like this! I think I’ve just discovered a new art form for myself.’😊❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
✨DANCE AS A BUSINESS✨⠀
⠀
If you want dance to be your profession, and maybe do some local gigs (restaurant/weddings/etc), it’s important to think about dance as a business not just art. Why? 🤔👉Well, an obvious answer is because you want money from it, lol. 🤣 But in reality there are two ways to get money, and there are two types of performers:⠀
☑️‘passive’ performers,⠀
☑️‘active’ performers.⠀
⠀
I can’t say there is anything wrong with any of those, but they are very different in how they approach their dance career & dreams, as well as results they get.⠀
👇👇👇⠀
⠀
Passive performers are dancers who probably invested lots of time and energy in training, but now are… simply waiting for gigs to appear. 🤷‍♀️ Waiting to be discovered by clients, event organizer, for money suddenly to come. They believe that it is enough just to be a good skilled dancers. 💃They hope that their teacher or another dance friend recommend them to someone. They are very resistant to the idea of ‘selling’ the art. 👉“I’m an artists, not a sales person” is their main excuse why life is so difficult and nicely paid gigs are so rare. 😬⠀
⠀
Active performers do not wait for opportunities to appear. They create those opportunities. They make it EASY for clients to find them, and they are not afraid of competition. 👌👌👌 They understand the rules of promoting and selling the art, and are not disgusted or afraid of offering their services. They are ready to work with clients‘ expectations, but know how to lead the process in a professional way ➕ how to be satisfied with the result themselves AND make clients be happy too. Instead of complaining about difficult artist life they forward their energy into improving all sides of their activity: dance skills, presentation, promotion, marketing and all other logistics. 💃💃💃They know their strengths, and know how to transform a one-time client into a loyal life-time customer and promoter. ❤️ But the main difference: they TAKE RESPONSIBILITY for their career, and don’t blame anyone else or surrounding circumstances for the dance life they have. 👀👀👀⠀
⠀
Which type of performer would YOU like to be? 😁😘😘😘
A CHAPTER OF MY CAREER⠀
(important info at the end‼️) ⠀
⠀
I’ve started 新澳门网址多少 dancing in Ukraine over 16 years ago, and after a few years of training got accepted to a dance group doing community and commercial shows. 💃💃💃I had some aspirations for trying out solo gigs, but didn’t really go for it. My entire focus was on the group that felt like a real dance family. ❤️❤️❤️ #happydays⠀
⠀
In 2011 I moved to Canada to study at York University. I thought i had to have a degree in dance if I wanted to be a professional dancer. ⠀
⠀
Moving to a different country with different social environment and local mentality has opened a new world of 新澳门网址多少 dancing for me: commercial gigs for solo 新澳门网址多少 dancers. Before that I never considered even a single thought of living from restaurant or private gigs. 🤔However, seeing a huge difference in attitude to dancers and all the possibilities that existed in Toronto, got me interested at least to try.⠀
⠀
Moving fast forward, for the 5 years after graduation I lived as a full-time dancer, relying entirely on local shows as a soloist. ☑️200 gigs per years in a non-Arabic country☑️, without an agent or manager☑️. Figuring out not only artistic side of this work, but also all business and logistic aspects.💸⠀
⠀
And despite now I am back to Europe to fulfill my other artistic goals, that chapter of my life feels very significant for me. It formed me as a dancer, and as a self-employed artist. ✨ Is it completely in the past now, or is it just a break? I don’t know... Life will show. 🤗🤗🤗 But while I’m figuring it out, I know that for many dancer being a full-time performer IS their dream. 👉And I would love to help.⠀
⠀
What kind of gig-related questions may you have? Anything that you can’t figure out, and possibly don’t have anyone to ask? Don’t be shy, let me know in comments below. 👇👇👇 And try to be as specific as possible. 🤔 I’ll see if I can do some future posts around your questions in order to help with some tips and sharing my experience about the subject. 😘❤️❤️❤️⠀
⠀
P.S. Abstract from the current quarantine mode. Things will get back to normal sooner or later. Meanwhile, let’s get ready for those times. 😉
My recent re-discovery - a meditation app called Insight Timer -‍♀️🧘‍♀️🧘‍♀️ I’m using it every day now. - it’s totally FREE, and there are thousands of guided meditations of different durations, themes and teachers! ---I’m absolutely in love with it! ❤️And also, you can set a timer for your own meditation practice in case you don’t wanna follow a guided session. I honestly think that such belief is a very comforting excuse for many artists on not taking responsibility for ALL aspects of their work. It feels much safer to stay in the comfort zone of a dance studio, focusing only on the training element of your profession, and ignoring everything else. 💃💃💃⠀⁣⁣⠀
⠀⁣⁣⠀
But you don’t have to choose between art and business. 👉There IS a way on how to stay true to yourself and your art, AND make a decent living as a professional dancer. ‼️‼️‼️⁣⁣⠀
⠀⁣⁣⠀
❇️There is no shame in wanting to live out of your art.⠀⁣⁣⠀
❇️There is no shame in actively promoting your services.⠀⁣⁣⠀
❇️There is no shame in asking for a good level of payment for your skills.⠀⁣⁣⠀
❇️And there is no shame in approaching your art as a business.⠀⁣⁣⠀
⠀⁣⁣⠀
In fact accepting all those things means that you DO care about your art, it’s respectability, high-level appreciation, and sharing its joy with the general audience. 👉You can think about selling your art as an opportunity to popularize it among people who otherwise may have not even know about its true nature. 🤔🤔🤔💁‍♀️It’s one of the most satisfying things to hear after your show: ‘Oh, I’ve never thought that a 新澳门网址多少 dance show could look like this! I think I’ve just discovered a new art form for myself.’😊❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️⁣⁣⠀
